Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid filler is a popular injectable treatment used to restore volume, hydration and smoothness to the skin. Made from a substance naturally present in the body, hyaluronic acid fillers are effective in reducing the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and improving facial contours. With long-lasting results and no recovery time, they offer a safe, non-surgical option for facial rejuvenation.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is hyaluronic acid and how is it used in injectable dermal fillers?
Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in the human body, especially in the skin and connective tissues. It has the unique ability to retain water, keeping tissues hydrated and lubricated. This property makes it a crucial factor in maintaining skin health and elasticity.
In the context of dermal fillers, hyaluronic acid is used as an injectable substance that adds volume, restores fullness, smoothes wrinkles and fine lines, and enhances and defines facial features. The synthetic form of hyaluronic acid used in dermal fillers closely resembles the body's natural hyaluronic acid, making it a safe and effective treatment option.
How do hyaluronic acid fillers work when injected into the face?
Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are injectable treatments that work by adding volume and hydration to the skin when injected into the face. Hyaluronic acid binds and holds water molecules, plumping the skin and smoothing wrinkles and fine lines. Fillers restore volume to sunken or hollow areas and provide structural support, enhancing and defining facial features such as cheekbones, jawline and lips.
The body naturally absorbs the filler over time, after which the next treatment can be performed to maintain the desired results.
How long after treatment will I see the effect of hyaluronic acid fillers?
How long will the effect of hyaluronic acid fillers last?
The effect of hyaluronic acid filler treatments can last from several months to more than a year. The duration of the results depends on the area treated and the individual's metabolism. Since hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally present in the body, it will be absorbed gradually over time.

What treatments can hyaluronic acid fillers be used for?
Hyaluronic acid fillers can be used for a variety of treatments to enhance and rejuvenate the face. Some of the most common applications include:
- Smoothing wrinkles and fine lines: Fillers can help smooth lines around the mouth, eyes and cheekbones.
- Restore volume: Fillers can add volume to areas that have lost it over time, such as the cheekbones, temples and dark circles.
- Enhance the lips: Fillers can increase the volume of the lips for a fuller, more defined appearance.
- Contouring facial features: Fillers can be used to sculpt and define areas such as the jawline and chin.

What are the indications for care after my hyaluronic acid treatment?
There are some aftercare guidelines you should follow to ensure the best results and minimize any side effects:
- Let the filler settle naturally, avoid rubbing, massaging or facial treatments for the first few days after treatment.
- Drinking plenty of water can help your body heal and support the effects of treatment.
- You can gently cool the treated area to prevent or reduce swelling. The ice pack should be wrapped in a cloth and should not be applied for more than 10-15 minutes at a time.
- Avoid wearing makeup for the first few hours after treatment to reduce the risk of infection.
- Refrain from strenuous physical activity for 48 hours after treatment.
- Avoid direct sun exposure, saunas, hot tubs and steam baths for at least 48 hours after treatment.
- Avoid alcohol, smoking and anticoagulant medications during the first hours after treatment.
