Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid filler is a popular injectable treatment used to restore volume, hydration, and smoothness to the skin. Made from a substance naturally present in the body, hyaluronic acid fillers are effective in reducing the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and improving facial contours. With long-lasting results and no recovery time, they offer a safe and non-surgical option for facial rejuvenation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in the human body, especially in the skin and connective tissues. It has the unique ability to retain water, keeping tissues hydrated and lubricated. This property makes it a crucial factor in maintaining skin health and elasticity.
In the context of dermal fillers, hyaluronic acid is used as an injectable substance that adds volume, restores fullness, softens wrinkles and fine lines, and enhances and defines facial features. The synthetic form of hyaluronic acid used in dermal fillers closely resembles the body's natural hyaluronic acid, making it a safe and effective treatment option.

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are injectable treatments that work by adding volume and hydration to the skin when injected into the face. Hyaluronic acid binds to and retains water molecules, plumping the skin and smoothing wrinkles and fine lines. Fillers restore volume to sunken or hollow areas and provide structural support, enhancing and defining facial features such as cheekbones, jawline, and lips.
The body naturally absorbs the filler over time, after which the next treatment can be performed to maintain the desired results.

You will notice the effects of hyaluronic acid fillers immediately after the treatment. Any minor swelling typically subsides within a few days, and as the filler integrates with the surrounding tissues in the days following the treatment, the final results become fully visible and appear natural and smooth.

The effect of hyaluronic acid filler treatments can last from several months to over a year. The duration of the results depends on the treated area and the individual's metabolism. Since hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body, it will be gradually absorbed over time.

Hyaluronic acid fillers can be used for a variety of treatments to enhance and rejuvenate the face. Some of the most common applications include:

  • Smooth wrinkles and fine lines: Fillers can help smooth lines around the mouth, eyes, and cheekbones.
  • Restore volume: Fillers can add volume to areas that have lost it over time, such as the cheekbones, temples, and under the eyes.
  • Enhance lips: Fillers can increase lip volume for a fuller, more defined appearance.
  • Contour facial features: Fillers can be used to sculpt and define areas such as the jawline and chin.
  • Improve skin texture: Fillers can also help smooth and even out skin texture in certain areas.

The right time to start using dermal fillers depends on your personal goals and preferences. Our younger clients often choose filler treatments to enhance and define facial features such as the lips, cheekbones, and jawline. As you get older, fillers can also help correct signs of aging such as wrinkles and volume loss.

As with all our treatments, the minimum age required is 18 years.

You can typically be socially presentable right after a dermal filler treatment.
Some clients may experience slight swelling or bruising; however, these effects are often minimal and can be easily concealed with makeup if necessary. In most cases, you can return to your normal social activities immediately.

There are some aftercare guidelines you should follow to ensure the best results and minimize any side effects:

  • Allow the filler to settle naturally; avoid rubbing, massaging, or performing facial treatments during the first few days after treatment.
  • Drinking plenty of water can help your body heal and solidify the effects of the treatment.
  • You can gently cool the treated area to prevent or reduce swelling. The ice pack should be wrapped in a cloth and should not be applied for more than 10-15 minutes at a time.
  • Avoid wearing makeup for the first few hours after treatment to reduce the risk of infection.
  • Refrain from intense physical activity for 48 hours after treatment.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure, saunas, jacuzzis, and steam rooms for at least 48 hours after treatment.
  • Avoid alcohol, smoking, and blood-thinning medications for the first few hours after treatment.
